Art-pop collective HMLTD tend to provoke one of two different reactions: revulsion or obsession. Both are equally acceptable for a band who pride themselves in their ability to be provocative. Their antics include filling their gigs with the smell of burning hair and handing out lipstick on the door. Thankfully they’ve leaned more towards the later for their SHUT-INMIX, a perfect example of HMLTD’s outspoken rebellion against categorisation.
‘This mix was all about juxtaposing ideas of inferiority, celibacy, and types of dance music typically enjoyed by shut-ins with ideas of bravado, machismo. The types of music that are commonly perceived to be enjoyed by people who are more sociable and popular.’ They’ve even slipped in their own original remix for you to listen out for.
